ABOUT US

IN 2012, THE BEAST OPENED ITS DOORS. FUELLED BY OUR MEMORIES SMASHING SOUL FOOD AND CRUISING THROUGH THE DEEP SOUTH, OUR MISSION BACK THEN WAS SIMPLE. IT STILL IS.

Our live music venue, diner and bar has been a mainstay of Brunswick East; the local ‘rec room’ for over a decade. We’re best known for our burgers, our fun take on comfort food, our dedication to the fiery things in life.

From farmers, distillers, to brewers, we hero LOCAL in everything we source. All items on our menu (except our buns) are made in-house by hand, powered by riffs and love.

To date, we’ve hosted more than a thousand free shows. From discovering exciting local acts to international touring bands; drag troupes to Mexican luchador wrestlers; community fundraisers to crowning the world’s most successful competitive chilli eater – we’ve been lucky enough to host them all.

Come see us for delicious food and booze, top-notch banter and all the things in life that make your heart roam WILD, FUZZY and FREE.
ACCESSIBILITY

THE BEAST IS AN ACCESSIBLE VENUE.

GETTING TO THE BEAST

The Beast is located at 80 Lygon Street, Brunswick East.

We're a 1 minute walk from the Route 6 and 1 tram.
Route 6 and 1 low-floor trams often travel along Lygon Street.

Street parking is available nearby in Weston St and neighbouring streets.

In case street parking is hard to find, there is also a paid parking garage on Weston St with a $8 flat rate. There’s a cobble-stone alley behind the venue for artist load-in only, however the venue has no dedicated parking spots for visitors, performers or staff.

IN-VENUE ACCESSIBILITY

The Beast has a wide door and ramp for wheelchair accessibility at the front entrance and smooth concrete floors throughout the venue.

A wheelchair accessible toilet with a handrail is also located behind the stage area.

Access to these facilities can become difficult during crowded events, so please advise the nearest staff member if you're having difficulty with this and we will ensure access is provided.

All our bathrooms are gender neutral.
Earplugs are available for free at the bar on request.

SAFETY

The Beast is a safe space for all to enjoy.
We have a strict ‘no dickhead’ policy.

Racism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, aggression or any sh*tty behaviour towards our punters, staff or friends will have you kicked out faster than you can slur 'Lemmy Kilmster'.

If you or someone near you is feeling uncomfortable, please alert our security or staff immediately.
